What is Vietnam Visa on Arrival (VOA)?
Visa on arrival is an alternative way to obtain a visa for the entry to Vietnam. The traditional way to obtain a visa is to apply at the Vietnam Embassy.

Travellers who applied for the VOA is required to submit their information and date of arrival to the Vietnam Immigration Department. An official visa approval letter is issued in their name to allow them to enter Vietnam in a specified date. The official visa is stamped at the airport. While with the visa applied at the Vietnam Embassy, travellers are required to send their passport to the Vietnam Embassy before they travel. The visa is stamped at the Embassy.

What is Vietnam visa approval letter?
Vietnam Visa approval letter is an official document issued by Vietnam Immigration Department (Vietnam Ministry of Public Security) in traveller’s name. It allows traveller to enter Vietnam and obtain the visa stamp at airport. A sample can be found in here

From July, 1st 2015 to next June 2016 Vietnam Government exempts visa for citizens of the following European countries regardless of their purpose or type of visas:

Can travellers travel to a different airport than they originally applied for?
Yes. The Vietnam Visa on Arrival works at all 5 international airports in Vietnam (Noi Bai in Hanoi, Cat Bi in Hai Phong, Da Nang in Da Nang, Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa and Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City). As long as their visas are valid, there is no issue if they change their port of arrival.
